Following on from their Prevail one and two double albums is Evolution which as the name implies sees Kobra And The Locust on new (ish) ground. Putting out three works in as many years shows how many ideas Kobra Paige and her crew must be having. This creative upsurge has resulted in the Canadians sounding leaner, meaner and fitter. This is a record from an act ready to take on the world, an act looking forward and discarding their rear view mirror. While the music is still within the same sphere as what we’ve become used to Evolution sounds fresh. The full sound has been pared down and the vocals are much sharper. This gives Kobra And The Lotus a much better defined sound. If you view the Previal records as a kind of transition period then this new album is very much a bright new dawn.
