Dealing With Damage
The London Particular
Serial Bowl Records
There’s a fine balance in music where both originality and familiarity are needed to satisfy the listening audience, something too experimental leads to puzzlement while hearing a repeat is just boring. Enter Dealing With Damage who hit the sweet spot perfectly with their latest album ‘The London Particular’. It’s an up-beat affair that has groove and melody at its heart while also having an unerringly underground vibe. It pulls in threads from punk, new wave and a little of the psychedelic era. Cleverly though the song construction is much more in tune with where we are now, it’s firmly 2026. An undercurrent of dystopian darkness bubbles away countered by the rebellious tone of the vocals. This is a more complex record than you might think, and it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into it. Dealing With Damage don’t do the obvious making this fine album not only a treat to listen to but also keep the twists and turns coming to the point where you just have to hit repeat.
