Download Festival, the world’s premier rock event has announced Def Leppard, Slipknot, and Tool, as its 2019 headliners, plus 17 of the world’s most exciting bands in rock, pop punk, hardcore and metal. The three-day festival takes place on 14 – 16 June 2019 at the spiritual home of rock in Donington Park. Also playing the hallowed Donington turf next June will be Slash with Myles Kennedy, Rob Zombie, Whitesnake, Trivium, Amon Amarth, Carcass, Delain, Die Antwoord, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, Opeth, Power Trip, Reel Big Fish, Skindred, Starset, Tesla, The Amity Affliction and Underoath.
Once again the festival has shown real intent with the eclectic nature of the acts on the announcement. Fans of heavier music have been catered for with Carcass and Slipknot, while those with dance in their blood will be pleased to see South Africans Die Antwoord on the bill. One of Devolution’s favourite sons Rob Zombie will be bringing his legendary stage show to the home of all things heavy. Tool have been one of the most requested acts of recent years so their addition as a headliner is a real coup. Classic rock is represented by Def Leppard, (playing their seminal album Hysteria in full) and Tesla, while party favourites Skindred return once more, and no doubt will be bringing their Newport Helicopter with them.
Download Festival’s Andy Copping said:
“We’re incredibly excited to announce three legends as Download 2019 headliners. It’s not quite been 10,000 Days since we have been able to indulge in one of our favourite alt-rock bands, but after thirteen years I am thrilled to announce Tool are finally making their long-awaited return to Download. Renowned for being one of the best live bands on the planet due to their one-of-a-kind performances, Slipknot are an incredible addition to the main stage. Last but not least, I am honoured to welcome true Rock N’ Roll legends Def Leppard to Download who bring with them a UK exclusive chance to see Hysteria played in full.”
More bands will be added to the line up in the near future.
