The Pixel Rain return with ‘Last’, the lead single from the Southeast London project’s forthcoming debut album, A Sense of Danger. Introducing some of the themes explored throughout the forthcoming album A Sense of Danger, ‘Last’ finds The Pixel Rain broadening its sonic palette. Bringing post-punk guitars further into focus, the track expands upon the atmospheric electronics, driving rhythms and industrial textures that have defined the project since its inception. Discussing the song’s creation, Hungarian-born songwriter and project founder Áron Siegler says:
“… ‘Last’ was born from my scorn for modern-day authority figures as I was picturing a world that these kinds of people are gonna leave behind. The song has a specific meaning for me as a Hungarian person but I always try to write lyrics universally, encouraging the audience to find their own stories in my songs.”
“Musically, I wanted to change up the usual workflow a bit,and turn to a more guitar-driven sound. I took inspiration from bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain or The Horrors and ended up mixing it up with my usual electronic influences. Once I found the balance, the rest of the song basically wrote itself naturally.”
Accompanying the release is an official video filmed in Hungary, presenting The Pixel Rain in a full-band setting. While the project’s recordings are primarily driven by Siegler’s songwriting and studio work, the video sees him joined by his close friends and fellow Hungarian musicians Balázs F?r (drums), András Melles (bass), Máté Breier (guitar), and Máté Király-Gye?ry (synth). Together they offer a glimpse of The Pixel Rain’s live incarnation, while reinforcing the connection between its London base and Siegler’s homeland.
Founded by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Áron Siegler, The Pixel Rain emerged from Southeast London’s underground scene with a self-titled debut EP in 2023. Drawing from industrial rock, post-punk, synth-pop and electronic music, Siegler has developed a sound that balances guitar-driven songwriting with layered production, dark atmospheres and an ear for memorable melodies. With ‘Last’, The Pixel Rain offer a first glimpse of their forthcoming debut album, A Sense of Danger, a record shaped by themes of power, authority, consumerism and social unease, viewed through a lens of post-apocalyptic imagery and dark electronic atmospheres.
