Sometimes all we crave is peace and quiet, even the party animals need to recharge. And when in those times you do want a soundtrack to lose yourself in this album from The Paper Kites comes highly recommended. If it was a painting it would be a dreamy watercolour. There are no pretensions here, just soft tones, warm embraces and thoughtful understated writing. It has roots in soft rock, a little country and the more contemplative end of indie. ‘If You Go There, I Hope You Find It’ conjures up images of dusty farmsteads and long roads shimmering with freedom. It might not set the world on fire but it will bring an inner glow to your heart. Right now in the depth of winter it shows us a glimpse of summer sun – and who doesn’t want that?
