Review: The Hara – The Fallout

The Hara

The Fallout

Mascot Records

Having an identity and a personality is pretty damn important in music these days. An artist needs to be recognisable – instantly. You can tell if a band has an inherent x-factor. Take The Hara and their latest album ‘The Fallout’. This has star quality running through it like a stick of rock. The writing is engaging, a blend of alt rock, emo and metal with balance at its heart. There are twists and turns galore making this a journey of discovery even after multiple plays.  The songs are performed with genuine sensitivity, they have feeling that grabs you and refuses to relinquish its grip. Josh Taylor’s vocals are quite superb. He bares his soul in a way more experienced performers will never be able to. You have to keep reminding yourself this trio is relatively young because they have a confidence and air of maturity that screams years in the industry. Their enthusiasm is still intact though and heard in every note. This is a fantastic record that shows more than just progression, it shows just how good music can be and why we should all be supporting it.
