Review: Sky Valley Mistress – Luna Mausoleum

Sky Valley Mistress

Luna Mausoleum

New Heavy Sounds

It’s easy to get carried away with technology. It is everywhere after all, including music. The digital revolution is firmly in the rear view mirror and AI is changing things every day. Sky Valley Mistress though are made of the same stuff that gave us Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Starship and Janis Joplin. They write and play as if from the 70s, with a few nods to what followed. ‘Luna Mausoleum’ if full of punchy riffs, psychedelic groove and free flowing dynamics. It’s bluesy hard rock at its finest. The whole vibe is only enhanced by Kayley Davies magnificent voice which reminds you at times of Grace Slick and at others of Portishead’s Beth Gibbons. This is someone who puts soul and feeling before raw power, and has a gift for timing. If you’re a fan of those older artists but want something fresh to listen to then this is for you.
