Sinister Fate
Profit Of Doom
Self-Released
Since bursting out of Chicago in 2006, shock rockers Sinister Fate have cast a spell over the United States, enchanting the nation with their dark art while sharing stages with some of the biggest names in alternative metal. With their latest release, Profit Of Doom (an EP extended to album length by some choice remixes), the rest of the world is finally going to be captivated by their charms. What lifts Sinister Fate above their peers is a dystopian edge; these songs sound as if they were sent from a not-too-distant, totalitarian future, offering a frightening glimpse of what awaits, best exemplified by the opening track beLIEve’ Introduced by a sample from The Purge, Sinister Fate get straight down to business with a riff that recalls classic Wednesday 13, whilst vocalist David Bates barks his lyrics like a demented politician. It’s obvious why their songs grace so many horror film soundtracks; the likes of ‘Hey Man Nice Shot’ have a strong visual element that fills your head with visions of the most bloodthirsty kind. Profit Of Doom marks the band as a contemporary force, and I prophesise big things for Sinister Fate.
