Sub Rosa In Æternum

Century Media

We’re all busy little bees, right? So, let’s get straight to the point. ‘Sub Rosa In Æternum’ (and you’re gonna be seeing this album title a lot because, against all odds, yer girl managed to find the correct symbol…) blends gothic and death metal. GOTHIC AND DEATH METAL! Is there any finer combination? Going by the standard of ‘Sub Rosa In Æternum’ – the sixth studio release from Sweden’s finest, no. No there is not. We’ve said it before about this band – the vocals are utterly captivating, and this time around there’s even more texture to them. Take ‘Tainted Skies’ – Johannes Andersson’s deep velvety purr takes a turn in a gravelly,
growly direction. Similarly, on ‘Saturn Coming Down’, which has a gloriously melodic riff spectacularly shattered by his vicious hissing, before Johannes picks up the pieces with that moreish mellow tone of his. Throughout ‘Sub Rosa In Æternum’ the guitars ring out clear as bells, and musically ‘Reaping Song’ paints a vivid moving picture. ‘Sub Rosa In Æternum’ – come indulge yourself in this record.
