News: Health – Release ‘Rat Wars Ultra Edition’ & New Single With Filter ‘Free To Die’

HEALTH Release Rat Wars Ultra Edition Via Loma Vista Recordings

Hear Moody, Pulsating New Single With Filter “Free To Die

Headlining UK & European Tour Dates

HEALTH today released RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION, a deluxe expansion of their critically acclaimed 2023 album RAT WARS, via Loma Vista Recordings. The release arrives with a four-track EP that features three collaborations, including the band’s moody, pulsating new single with Filter, “FREE TO DIE.” HEALTH makes music that could soundtrack an apocalypse, and Filter shares that same intensity. There’s a clear creative synergy between the two bands, marked by bold experimentation and a willingness to push boundaries, drawing from a diverse mix of genres like industrial, electronic, metal, and avant-garde. On “FREE TO DIE,” HEALTH and Filter’s Richard Patrick converge these elements to form a raw, aggressive, and forward-thinking noise-rock sound. The EP also includes recently released collaborative singles “ASHAMED [Feat. Lauren Mayberry]” and “THE DRAIN”—a team up with Bad Omens and SWARM originally featured on the former’s CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST] (Sumerian Records)—as well as HEALTH’s stunning Spotify Singles cover of Deftones’ “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away).” Stream or purchase RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION now HERE.

RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION arrives on the heels of HEALTH’s recent GRAMMY Museum conversation and performance, KEXP live session, and festival plays at Riot Fest and Louder Than Life, among others. The band is currently on a headlining UK and European tour; a full itinerary is below with tickets on-sale HERE.

HEALTH’s long and willfully unconventional career arc coalesced in RAT WARS, which cements them in the lineage of groundbreaking heavy acts like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, who re-drew the borders between metal, electronic and pop music. Released digitally in December 2023, and produced by Stint (Oliver Tree, Demi Lovato) and mixed by Lars Stalfors (SALEM, The Neighbourhood), the album is now HEALTH’s highest streaming album with 24 million global streams to date. Their fifth LP also debuted at #1 on Apple’s Alternative Top Albums Chart and in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Top Albums Chart, while earning the trio cover stories at Revolver, Kerrang!, and Fuze, as well as guest appearances on Amoeba’s What’s In My Bag, Alternative Press’ Artist Friendly podcast, Comedy Bang Bang’s CBB.FM, Loudwire’s Loudwire Nights, Songwriters on Process, Joe Pug’s The Working Songwriter, and more. RAT WARS ended the year on ‘Best Albums of 2023’ lists by Revolver, Alternative Press, New York Magazine/Vulture, MXDWN (#1 Album of 2023), Heavy Consequence, Uproxx, and FLOOD Magazine, among others. Album track “HATEFUL” won the ‘Best Record From Games and Interactive Media’ category at A2IM’s 2024 Libera Awards for its appearance in the hit video game ULTRAKILL.

This year has proven to be HEALTH’s busiest to date. In addition to their collaborations with FILTER, Bad Omens, and Lauren Mayberry, the band remixed Lamb of God’s song “Laid To Rest” for the metal legend’s Ashes Of The Wake (20th Anniversary Edition) LP for Epic Records/Legacy Recordings (guitarist Willie Adler is also featured on the menacing RAT WARS/RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION track “CHILDREN OF SORROW.”) A ‘SELECTED WORKS’ Thematic Album Compilation playlist, featuring HEALTH’s most beloved tracks, was also recently released across all DSPs, while their worldwide headlining ‘RAT-BASED WARFARE TOUR’ has seen sell-outs across the globe, including across Australia and in Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Portland, Toronto, Seattle, and San Francisco, among others.
