Where The Gloom Becomes Sound – Century Media Records

Skin-crawlingly creepy, Tribulation’s brand of Death Metal is more subtle than many but no less chilling. ‘Where The Gloom Becomes Sound’ doesn’t set about you with an axe – more like with a pair of pliers. Taking its time to inflict the damage, if you will. ‘Funeral Pyre’ is a hellish blitz of speedy riffs. Guitars in ‘The Wilderness’ chop and howl. ‘In Remembrance’ is a battle cry of the most deathly yet tunesome order. The music is, naturally, ace, but ‘Where The Gloom Becomes Sound’ is all about the vocals. A saccharine rasping hiss of a voice, coming from a mouth warped with a twisted smile. Of course, Tribulation are probably the nicest gentlemen known to humankind. A kitten-loving, juice drinking quartet. It’s just this album has the sound and feels of one made by kitten-juicing, drink-loving bunch of lads. Ten out of ten then!
