Fyzz Wallis Band
Period Pieces – Self Released
Melodic punksters Fyzz Wallis Band are back with another fine set of songs that take a more refined approach to feminism than other acts often choose. Rather than ranting and raging here we see misogyny getting a severe telling off and being made to stand in the naughty corner. The observational lyrics have a tongue in cheek factor about them too that lightens the mood in keeping with the catchy music. There’s a garage rock vibe to the production that steers the band firmly into punk territory while the guitar work more than hints at grunge influences. You also get some punchy harmonies blasting through adding to the depth. Consistent in quality ‘Period Pieces’ ably represents just why the wider underground and DIY music scene is so vibrant right now.
