Age Of Athena – Gate To Oblivion

Self-Released

You know when you’re belting out a tune while you’re in the car driving alone? Or when there’s no one else home and you ARE a one person stadium tour – banging out song after song and sounding note perfect each and every single time to your audience of, erm, yourself? No offence, but Age Of Athena vocalist Helen Illumina is one to steer clear of adding to your solo setlist. Her voice is glass shattering and earth shatteringly good. Operatic metal is probably the best way to describe ‘Gate To Oblivion’. Think Nightwish – that sort of thing. But different. Possibly every sort of sound is made on this album. Death growls, wild guitars, guttural notes. It’s a proper high-octane headbanger. Age Of Athena throw everything they have at ‘Gate To Oblivion’ and the outcome is astounding.
