The Last Viking (Midsummer Edition) – AFM Records

Leaves’ Eyes 2020 album “The Last Viking” will be released as a multimedia concept album featuring two bonus CDs and Blu-ray documentary of “Viking spirit”. The bonus CDs include the instrumental version of the album plus the soundtrack to the documentary, which altogether creates a truly cinematic experience to this audio visual story. Chapters of the documentary include Viking lifestyle and Vikings of the world, so if you’re into your Norse history and powerful, melodic symphonic metal sprinkled with folk metal this is for you! Elina Siiralas operatic vocals are both haunting and powerful throughout and paired with Alexander Krull’s growls helps to create a deeper dimension to their sound. The range of the instrumentals is impressive and pays off well in the finished product. Alongside the lyrics they invite you into another world, where you can see the story they are trying to portray in your mind’s eye. It’s not surprising they have decided to come out with a multimedia album as they are born storytellers with a clear passion for Norse mythology and the Viking age.
