Kindred – Svart Records

Now for something completely different … and as we all know, different is good. Settle down somewhere cosy and peaceful, and get on board with Hexvessel’s way of thinking. Finland’s finest psychedelic forest folk-rockers guide us through a trippy, impassioned, inspired musical landscape enlightened by the past, with earthy tones and a cocooning story-telling vibe. In fairness, even if you can’t find a quiet spot (due to your house becoming a school, office, gym, dance studio, football field, cricket pitch, pub, restaurant and dog basket) stick your headphones in, ‘Kindred’ on, and you’ll be transported out of the loop for the duration of this utterly intriguing album. Hexvessel are clearly devoted to their craft. ‘Kindred’ is unusual, captivating and completely addictive – it’s a struggle to stop listening to this record until the very end. Enchanting.
