It’s like a science experiment. How much energy can Pound 1) expend and 2) generate? Let’s start with the second question because this so-talented-they-are-off-the-scale Seattle duo screw with the general order of the musical universe, and if you can’t beat ‘em… Basically, you could hook Pound up to the National Grid and power a small market town with them. Back to question one. Well, these guys once bounced bottles off a bar when playing live, soooo…. Even if grind and doom inspired instrumentals, which furiously blend math rock and massive grooves, are not your thing, this record deserves your attention. Duos are pretty hot at the minute and Pound are no exception. Using a baritone nine-string guitar and two drum kits angled at ninety degrees, they obliterate track after track, each of which is named after rhythm patterns they contain. Pound sound big. This record’s massive. And there’s only two of them. Less is more.
