Pardon the Pendle Witches
Blackpool Tower Dungeon recently reached out to us here at Devolution Magazine to help spread positive vibes and reach other collaborators to join in with a significant social movement and petition to make the government sit up and listen to help right the wrongs of history and stamp out stereotypes.
In this instance, it’s to help with justice in getting the government to grant an official pardon for the 10 innocent people who were tortured, convicted and hanged for witchcraft in a religious and political persecution conducted by the authorities 409 years ago back in 1612 – The Pendle Witches.
Some of you may know the story of the infamous Pendle Witch Trials, if you’ve visited the Dungeons… then you should.
This Halloween they are recounting this frightening tale and launching a campaign to pardon the Pendle Witches.
They have called in the experts: Robert Poole, Professor of History at @uclanuni and Semra Haksever, eclectic witch, founder of @mamamooncandles , healer and empath. Together they are fighting to right the wrongs of history and stamp out stereotypes.
Today we take a stance against prejudice and give the power back to these inspiring women to tell their stories.
Head over to their website to find out more and get involved in the #imawitch campaign.
We all want to hear stories not just of magic and witches, but of the importance of female solidarity.
