Frank Carter And The Rattlesnakes

Sticky – International Death Cult

Frank Carter has been building up to this moment for some time. The last three albums have been a bit like the settings on a pressure cooker upping the ante until now where Sticky simply explodes in a cloud of exuberance. It helps that it’s a release that coincides with live music starting to happen again. People need to hear these songs in the flesh. This isn’t an album so much born from the pandemic it’s more of a post lockdown celebration. We’re back and doesn’t it feel good! There are some notable collaborations on Sticky. Idles vox Joe Talbot shares the mic on the excellently punchy My Town. Elsewhere fast rising Cassyette proves to be the perfect vocal foil to Carter on Off With His Head. Of course you have to include Dean ‘Deano’ Richardson in the applause too. He is very much an integral part of the writing process.  If ever there was an advert about the benefits of hard work and humbleness it’s Frank Carter. Noted as one of the nice guys off stage and a beast of a performer on it his time has come. This record confirms what many already suspected, that the UK has a new force in world music. An innovator, a spokesperson and a role model for the new generation you suspect Frank has only just got going.  Headlining the recent Download Pilot showed he’s totally at home on the big occasions.  Sticky proves he has the talent to endure long into the future.
