Review: Lamb Of God – Into Oblivion

Lamb Of God

Into Oblivion

Century Media & Epic Records

There’s something to be said for the hand of experience helming a new album. It’s pretty clear there’s a focussed maturity running through β€˜Into Oblivion’. Every song has the familiar tells that have made Lamb Of God not just endure in popularity but grow to become modern day legends. The writing on this latest record progresses a dynamic that courses through the veins of the band. It’s adventurous without being unduly reckless. And of course it’s as heavy as hell. The bass tones and drumming are delicious, a signature in their own right. They give the perfect platform for the guitars to have fun, and fun they have providing depth and accenting the mood of each song. Randy Blythe is one of the most instantly recognisable metal vocalists of his generation. Here he emphasises why he is so highly rated with the lyrics coming through loud and clear. His ability to convey emotion both through subtlety and via raw energy is sensational. For over thirty years now this much loved band have been wowing audiences live and on record. β€˜Into Oblivion’ continues the journey as possibly their finest work to date.
