The Beast Goes On

Sumerian Records

With everything happening in the music world right now sometimes all you want is a strong melody and no nonsense lyrics, something unashamedly joyous to listen to. Enter Starbenders and their latest opus ‘The Beast Goes On’. Here we have a record that is filled with uplifting beats and big nods towards glam rock. You get riffs galore, punchy guitar solos that don’t dwell and an overwhelming sense that every moment spent in the studio was filled with pumped up fun. You can hear little influences that originated just before grunge blew hair metal out of the water. How times have changed. Kimi Shelter (such a cool moniker) has a powerful clean vocal that sits perfectly in the mix. Studiously well written this is a totally engrossing listen from first note to last. You even get a delicious cover of Bad Religion’s ’21st  Century ( Digital Boy)’. If what you crave is undiluted rock and roll then this is for you.
