At this dangerous moment for dissent—and following a decade-long hiatus from metal—MY RUIN returns with a monumental 9th studio album for a new era.
Declaration Of Resistance is not a polite reintroduction. It is a confrontational battle cry delivered with a clenched fist.
Aptly titled, the album marks a magnum opus continuation of MY RUIN’s authentically fiery, anti-pious signature: brutally honest, emotionally therapeutic hard truths delivered over dynamically searing, riff-heavy intensity. This time, the band sharpens its focus with a politically charged statement that directly calls out the most divisive and undignified president in modern history—one who has debased the office through hate, intimidation, censorship, retribution agendas, and authoritarian aspirations that have set the country ablaze.
America has reached a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency crisis point—on the brink of fascism, religious extremism, and institutional collapse. What we are witnessing is government coercion, the silencing of dissent, and a two-tier system of justice for loyalists versus resisters. This is abuse of power in plain sight, and Declaration Of Resistance sounds the alarm without compromise.
Twenty-five years after releasing their debut album A Prayer Under Pressure Of Violent Anguish, multi-instrumentalist/composer Mick Murphy and vocalist/lyricist Tairrie B. Murphy come full circle—without chasing nostalgia, trends, or ghosts. Their bond remains ferocious, focused, and creatively unfiltered. Co-produced by the duo and recorded at their home studio, The Magick Room in Knoxville, Tennessee (following their relocation from Los Angeles), the album was born from a no-pressure, instinct-driven environment. The result is an unrelenting, coherent assault of eleven original tracks, including a blistering duet with longtime friend Jack Osborne of British alternative hard rock band Call To The Void, as well as a closing quintessential feminist anthem cover delivered with unapologetic force.
Musically, Declaration Of Resistance channels urgency and rage through MY RUIN’s unmistakable fusion of classic metal, hardcore, punk, doom, rap-rock, and spoken word—grounded in Tairrie’s old-school hip-hop roots and sharpened by ’70s rock influences. The album plays like an anti-authoritarian manifesto: cathartic, defiant, and unflinchingly clear.
Longstanding anomalies within the music industry, MY RUIN remain a loud, fiercely defiant force to be reckoned with. Alongside their extensive body of work and boundary-pushing side projects—SWTEVL, Neanderthal, Teenage Time Killers, The Birds Of Satan, The LVRS, and Tairrie’s solo hip-hop releases – Mr. & Mrs. M continue to carve their own uncompromising path.
MY RUIN stands in solidarity with marginalized communities and opposes all forms of discrimination and oppression. They reject fear-based governance, political violence, militarization, and the myth that freedom belongs only to some. Though the 2024 election may be over, the fight for democracy, bodily autonomy, justice, and equality is not.
In the face of tyranny, we must be brave, speak truth to power, demand democracy—and resist. Thank you for standing with MY RUIN in solidarity.
