Alfonso Conspiracy
The Explicit/The Exploited
Self Released
An album whose opening track starts with unidentifiable but deeply disturbing sounds, middles with screaming and closes with chugging metal riffs is always gonna show you a good time. And sure enough the shit-kicking, throat-splitting vocals that battle their way through this beast of an album fulfil the prophesy. ‘Pathogen’ is a rager with a point to prove, ‘Transmit’ kicks off like a nineties rave, and hits up the Trent Reznor vibe before easing into a headspin of chaotic guitars. Dig deep into the debris left by Alfonso Conspiracy’s industrial, metalcore, death grows, snarling drawl, electro dance amalgam and there’s clean (ish!) vocals and melodies to be found. Evil genius behind all this is Max James, and he’s done a proper job of putting out a record that makes you wonder what on earth is going on while making perfect sense at the same time. Heavy? Unhinged? Unrepentant? Uncontrolled? They’re all here on ‘The Explicit/The Exploited’. This album is a lethal combination.
