Review: Leave No Witness – Hell And Back

Leave No Witness

Hell and Back

Self Released

Got a thing for blistering, brutal metalcore? Same! Well rejoice friends – everything you’ve ever wanted and more shall see your headbanging hearts’ desires satisfied in the space of this debut EP. But nothing worth having comes easy, and at least one aspect of the backstories of these four tracks will resonate. Maybe it will be the raw screaming of ‘Gaslight’; fresh from red flag experiences of rage and regret, yet refusal to let go of loving this someone who lets you down. Again and again. Or the brutal onslaught of ‘Suffocated by Design’. So raw and harsh are the emotions of ‘Heartless’ it’s almost howled.  ‘Familiar’ is the most melodic and so the softest of ‘Hell and Back’s’ songs. Which means it’s still pretty frickin’ face melting. This EP is loud and deep. It’s a difficult listen because of the lyrical themes. But it sounds so damn good.
