Review: The Devil Wears Prada – Flowers

The Devil Wears Prada

Flowers

Solid State Records

Formed in Dayton, Ohio, The Devil Wears Prada have been slaying crowds for two decades and while they might have jettisoned the Christian themes that informed their early days, their love of all things heavy has remained constant. The weighty sentiment that these songs bear works in tandem with the crushing force of metalcore the band deliver to create an album in Flowers that touches parts of the listener’s soul that other records can’t reach. From the red hot sonic blast of ‘All Out’ to the finely nuanced ‘The Silence’, a great deal of effort has been expended on finding just the right tone and timbre, and subsequently Flowers resonates and rings out like a tuning fork and will swirl around the air long after the disc has stopped spinning. On an eternal creative journey, Flowers marks The Devil Wears Prada at the peak of their powers, a quest that’s endeavoured to forge a bond between artist and fan has finally come to fruition on these fourteen songs. Album number nine finds them nurturing the emotional hues introduced on earlier releases, meaning Flowers finds The Devil Wears Prada blossoming and in full bloom.
