Review: Seven Blood – Life Is Just A Phase

Seven Blood

Life Is Just A Phase

Self Release

‘Life Is Just A Phase’ is the striking 11 track debut album from German metalcore quartet Seven Blood. Azaria Nasiri’s vocals are mostly clean and melodic, their lyrics are thoughtful and emotive. The band channels their individual personal anguish into their music, aiming for it to serve as ‘the soundtrack to recovery’ for those going through their own traumatic experiences. Opening with ‘House ? Home’ it has heavy instrumentals and breakdowns and an extremely catchy chorus, it’s just a taster for what is to come. By the time we got to 3rd track ‘No Breakout’ we are sold. We get to hear flickers of more hardcore vocals, wide instrumental range with an absolutely killer beat. ‘Monsters’ is a stand out track, featuring haunting vocal effects and the transitional guitar technique in and around the break downs is chef’s kiss. The closing song ‘Fall From The Sky’ has an other-worldly feel about it and you can feel the emotions emanating from Nasiri’s vocals. The deeper we get into the album is like chipping away at marble gradually uncovering its artistic beauty and depth in more detail. Seven Blood have already been making waves on the scene and this release comes hot on the heels of their first co-headline tour with Lastelle.
