How is it even possible for music this brutal to be filled with so much groove as well? Malevolence have once again delivered a set of songs that pummel your brain while at the same time remaining way more accessible than you’d ever imagine. A lot of this is to do with both the writing which never gets over indulgent, and the production which is as sharp as a ninja’s well honed blade. Praise also needs to be heaped on Alex Taylor whose vocals are astounding. To be able to sing with so much fry and still have the lyrics so clear is testament to just how good this guy is. Malevolence always were a decent outfit, this latest work elevates the Sheffield five piece to the pointy end of the metalcore pyramid.
