No clashes between Main Stage & Ocean Room stages

Scarborough, UK; 15 May 2025: Following the unprecedented sell-out of this year’s Fortress Festival in March, the organisers have unveiled the event’s clash-free stage times and the schedule of its Fortress Forum side programme. 

Taking place on Saturday, 31st May and Sunday, 1st June 2025 at Scarborough Spa, North Yorkshire, the festival will be headlined on the Sunday by the European Exclusive appearance of the legendary atmospheric black metal band, Agalloch, their first UK show since 2015. Saturday’s main stage will be headlined by the formidable 1349

This year sees the addition of a candlelit theatre stage on Saturday, which will host the sounds of DarkherOsi And The Jupiter and Sylvaine.

Adding another dimension to the Fortress Festival experience is the return of Fortress Forum on Sunday, 1st June, held in the theatre room. This unique side programme offers festival attendees the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of black metal through engaging on-stage interviews. This year’s Forum will feature the following “in conversation” sessions: 

  • An exclusive interview with Agalloch, exploring the band’s influential music, their recent return to the stage and what lies ahead
  • A conversation with Blasphemer from the groundbreaking band RUÏM, reflecting on his influential career, the creation of Norwegian Grammy-winning “Black Royal Spiritism”, and what’s next for RUÏM
  • An interview with The Watcher from the acclaimed UK atmospheric black metal band Fen and Fellwarden, among others. He will discuss Fen’s debut “The Malediction Fields”, which will be performed in full at Fortress, the band’s evolution to “Monuments to Absence”, and future plans
  • A discussion with prolific photographer NecrosHorns, offering insights into his striking visual contributions to the scene


These insightful conversations will be led by Jackie Smit of the acclaimed Into the Necrosphere podcast and renowned author, journalist and Cult Never Dies founder Dayal Patterson.
