Confessions Of A Traitor

This Pain Will Serve You

Facedown Records

The emotion of pain held desperately close can be felt in every word and note of this quite remarkable album by Londoners Confessions Of A Traitor. The sense of loss is palpable. The feeling of being left behind is sadly familiar. To be able to convey stark emotion so well is the key to why ‘This Pain Will Serve You’ is a cut above the rest. Metalcore has its detractors, it’s a part of the scene struggling a little right now to find its way. Here though we have a band that have taken it to the next level. They’ve found a way to use those big brutal signatures and connect them directly to the soul. What they are saying is, we understand, and you are not alone. For someone listening who may be going through something similar, something equally horrible, it is a life line. You could say this is a fine album and leave it at that, but in fact it is so much more important. By expressing their own grief openly Confessions Of A Traitor are helping others deal with theirs. And that makes it very special indeed.
