Review: JOANovARC – Escape The Fire

Escape The Fire

Self Released

There’s something primal about classic rock and metal that is undeniably magical. With music expanding at an unrelenting pace, no bad thing, it’s often good to satisfy our need for something familiar but also new. And that is exactly what JOANovARC have delivered with this stirring EP. It has the same effect as being presented with a snarling muscle car to drive after spending all day in one of those little electric boxes on wheels. You grin like a Cheshire cat and just love every moment. ‘Escape The Fire’ consists of four songs of supercharged rock heaven. Sublime drums combine with bass lines laid down by Keira Kenworthy, one of the best in the business. The riffage from the guitars is pure class while the vocals remind you of greats old and new, think Lzzy Hale and David Coverdale here. There’s a clear determination in the writing to try new things too which gives the band real identity. If exploring new music in the classic realm is your thing then this is a must listen to EP.
