Live Review: Dead Posey, The Black Heart, Camden, London

Rainy London is a perfect backdrop for a Monday night gig, so we headed to the Black Heart to catch LA rockers Dead Posey. And what a show it was!

Camden’s Black Heart is the perfect setting for tonight’s headliners; their 90’s alternative vibe laced with sleazy rock is right at home within this classic venue’s dark, sweaty walls.

The room is filled with a wonderfully diverse crowd, perfectly highlighting the band’s reach and appeal; everyone is welcome here, which is a wonderful peace of mind to have at a gig, just to be able to BE and know that you are accepted.

As they take their places, they are immediately connected to the crowd. Danyell leans over the front of the stage, coming face to face with fans, and opener ‘Zombies’ rips into the room. With no separation between the band and their adoring followers, it’s a total trip. Danyell often offers her mic up for willing participants to sing along with her, much to their delight.
Her stage presence is hypnotising, and everyone in the room is completely captivated. As the set continues, song after song is received with cheers and voices singing along, and it’s clear that their star is rising. Their cover of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’ went down a storm, with the whole room jumping at Danyell’s command.

The atmosphere is electric and definitely ticks all the boxes for what you want out of a ‘proper’ rock show. Guitarist Tony Fagenson had such stage presence that it was hard to know who to watch at any one moment, and his and Danyell’s chemistry was so exciting to see.

The new track, ‘Welcome To The Nightmare,’ was a particular highlight of an absolutely stellar set. It had the whole room singing and moving in unison. The evening was a total triumph, and as the show ended, they had clearly left everyone hungry for more!

Keep your eyes peeled for future shows. Dead Posey are a band you definitely don’t want to miss.
