Skeletal Family
Light From The Dark – Chapter 22 Records
Alt rockers Skeletal Family have been around a surprising near four decades. They sound too fresh for that as new opus ‘Light From The Dark’ proves. Sure it’s got little nods to the late 80s in its production. And there’s a hint of Siouxsie And The Banshees on the intro to ‘Brewing Up A Storm’ too. But elsewhere the song construction is very now along with little nuances in how the instruments sound. There’s an indie new wave vibe too thanks in part to Anneka Latta’s exceptionally smooth vocal delivery. She changes through the gears from dreamy to powerhouse seemingly effortlessly. If you like your music to have depth and mood while sidestepping getting all spikey then this is for you.
