Melody lies at the heart of everything Bar Stool Preachers do. It’s the engine that drives what is a very socially conscious group of musicians. Above The Static is pop punk with a message, alt rock with a groove, it’s very much a record for here and now. While not complex the writing is chock a block full of inventiveness and imagination. The vocals are similar and have a friendly earthiness to them. The whole thing sounds like your mates down the pub but at the same time screams quality. There’s a gap to fill between old bands now going through the motions and bright new things still finding their feet. Bar Stool Preachers appear to be the perfect fit. A much wider audience may just be around the corner.
