Face Your Biggest Fear – Time And Matter Records

The cyclical nature of music provides both progression and reflection. You can hear in new work the building blocks that come from the past. And that’s what Janus Stark explore so well. They’re one of the most able time travelling bands around – almost begging the question, do they own a TARDIS? Face Your Biggest Fear channels this decade hopping ability picking out highlights and melding them into eleven slices of guitar driven heaven. Underscoring everything is melody and solid song construction. Those foundations allow the creativity to flow in all directions. You get 60s pop vibes, 70s punk attitude and 80s metal brashness all rolled into one. It’s a record for now not then. The production is sharp but has warmth too. This is an organic record rather than an exercise in the clinical. Anyone who is a fan of such diverse acts as the Foo Fighters or the UK Subs, The Kinks or The Wildhearts, will love this album. It deserves to be huge!
