Vengeance – Volkanik

Australia’s finest Twelve Foot Ninja are described as ‘rock fusion’. Rock fused with what, exactly? Everything. That’s right – EVERYTHING. Beepy jingly old school computer game sounds, string sections, is that lounge piano?? A Mariachi band???? ‘IDK’ mixes a carefree melody with a bit of good old fashioned growling. The stop-start intro to title track ‘Vengeance’ messes with your head. As does the whole album, to be fair. You never know what’s coming next. And it’s all good fun. This is a busy record from an equally flat out band who have also released a computer game, comic book and fantasy novel. Not bad. Devo considers it a busy day if she gets the washing out and the ironing done. Twelve Foot Ninja are unique. They’re brave and bonkers to make the music that they do – and your life will be better and your mind broader after a listen.
