It Took An Apocalypse – Die Laughing Records/Golden Robot Records

Crimson Riot are not happy. Rightly so. And good job too. Because pissed off punk rock songs make for excellent listening. This collection of little gems is emotionally and politically charged – so much so that you’ll keep a close ear on the lyrics and won’t let a single second pass by without giving it your full attention. The songs are spikey and super catchy. ‘Political Identity’ blends Billy Bragg and Billie Joe Armstrong vibes – which is possibly the first and last time we shall witness such a feat. ‘Girl Fight’ is as fast and furious as its lyrics, which will ring true true true to many. There’s also a seize the day philosophy to be found in ‘It Took An Apocalypse’. Musically, Crimson Riot don’t hold back. Lyrically they don’t bite their tongue. Oh, and there is also a track called ‘The Oi Song’, so if that doesn’t make you want to listen to this record then nothing will.
