Stress – Noisolution

The re-emergence of riot grrrl isn’t really unexpected. The MeToo movement and general empowerment of women needed a sound track that matched the rightful anger felt. 24/7 Diva Heaven err towards a punk vibe with Stress. It’s a record that is both raw and powerful. The band have wisely stayed clear of trying to be either too clean or just plain noise driven. They sit perfectly, raucously in the ground in between. Stress is at its heart garage punk. It’s grunk rock at its finest with acts like Hole, L7 and Bikini Kill obvious influences. The Berliners retain a Euro flavour too rather than simply emulating popular US acts. This is a consistent album that fizzes along without ever dropping off the intensity level. Pretty much any track could be released as a single. You’ll find no filler here. 24’7 Diva Heaven show they have a sense of humour too with the short but sweet  ‘Topped With Cheese’. Stress never stops rocking, it’s a Bricks Are Heavy for the smartphone generation.
