Taking a more stripped back approach to his last outing Jamie Lenman proves that core writing is what really matters. This is visceral garage rock that has that gnarly rawness to it so beloved of acts such as Mudhoney. Lenman is someone you can never accuse of being pretentious but ‘Puke’ is just epitomises anti-pretention. Literally thrown up by musical standards with nothing taking more than a day or three takes to complete it shows what can be achieved if you have talent and drive. There are truths here too with the wonderfully titled ‘Lose Weight For Weddings’ being the most obvious of observations of social expectations gone awry. This is an artists who continues to impress while very much doing it his way.
