Loathe
Leeds Warehouse

Most of my favourite bands I didn’t quite ‘get’ straight away but once I listened closer there were subtle sonic treasures to uncover. This is what gives an artist repeated play and a firm position on my personal playlist. Loathe are one of these bands.
So, when I saw that they were booked for a benefit show for legendary venue Boom at The Warehouse in Leeds I just had to get along to support the cause.
The crowd were bursting with enjoyment as Loathe smashed right into “Gored” and “New Faces In The Dark” respectively levelling the room from the get-go. Loathe are here to destroy and the room erupts accordingly!
“Banshee” and “Aggressive Evolution” follow and the sea of crowd surfers alongside people moshing and grooving at the same time is a unique sight. There’s a genuine sense of community here and total backing for Boom’s cause. Frontman Kadeem France seemed visibly moved as he addressed the crowd about why we were all there and you just know this will be a night to remember!
It wouldn’t be a Loathe gig without some technical difficulties but Kadeem, ever the pro, keeps everyone amused before the band crash back delivering banger after banger losing zero pace. We really only catch our breath for a sea of voices and mobile phones to go with an ethereal “Is It Really You?”
Loathe utterly demolished The Warehouse and its punters as the band finished with the incendiary “I Let It In And It Took Everything,” the crowd were stunned and in awe.
This was a total celebration with the Leeds faithful coming together to support one of the best DIY venues in the country. Nights like this make me realise how much love is in our scene.
