Conqueress – Forever Strong And Proud – Nuclear Blast

Heavy metal right through to the core Doro Pesch has dedicated her life to her music in a way that is unparalleled. Her back catalogue runs to dozens of albums and many hours and hundreds of songs. Once again on this latest work we find that even though we know what we’re going to get, the quality is so great that you are still drawn in. The writing is solid and the instruments played with that deft hand you’d expect while the vocals pummel away at your ears with clarity and heart. Doro is literally the heavy metal queen, and one that moves with the times enough to keep her crown firmly in place. Lyrically topical matters are mixed with more traditional rock anthems. Musically there are some clever arrangements to keep fans guessing a little. And there’s a blistering cover of ‘Total Eclipse Of The heart’ too, one so good it rivals the original. Bonus tacks abound to add real value to what is already a cracking record. ‘Conqueress – Forever Strong And Proud’ pretty much sums up Doro. It’s majestic, just like its creator.
