Weston Super Maim
180 Degree Murder EP – Self Released
Oooof, this is something else. Mind you, with an EP consisting of only two tracks – one running to 6.27 minutes and the other just shy of 9 (and, indeed, with a name like ‘180 Degree Murder’) this was never going to be a Top 40 chart-topping extended player like those from way, way, back when. Crumbs, those were the days. Pick Of The Pops, anyone? Right, so, ‘180 Degree Murder EP’ by the cleverly named Weston Super Maim is a two-man effort that is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Its two tracks ‘180 Degree Murder’ and ‘We Need To Talk About Heaven’ are loud, heavy, full on, heavy, intelligent, heavy, experimental, heavy, hefty helpings of musical joy. ‘We Need To Talk About Heaven’ also has melodious moments so moving that they made Devo cry. Go listen. And, erm, throw the box of tissues this way.
