Review: Electric Callboy – Tanzneid

Electric Callboy

Tanzneid

Synth metal pioneers Electric Callboy are back with another dose of fun and we should rejoice that once again they have hit the mark perfectly. The mood is a little more dance oriented than previous release ‘Tekkno’ but the heaviness is still there too. We should all be familiar with single ‘Ratatata’ featuring Babymetal by now and if you like that song then you’ll love this album. There are some lovely anthemic choruses that’ll have live audiences singing along. The growled vocals are a noticeable point of progress on a set of songs that bounce along in genuine all killer no filler style, while the clean singing is done with supreme skill. There’s a faux ballad that will catch a few people out and no doubt have many chuckling. Of course there’s that comedic factor to what this band do but key to making this work is that the music has always had to have the backbone to carry it. This is where it absolutely slays. The genre blending is perfect, the hooks massive and synth majestic. ‘Tanzneid’ shows a band that are right on top of their extremely impressive game.
