Review: Phoenix Lake – Seraphina: The Fall From Eden

Seraphina: The Fall From Eden

Self Released

Describing them as a melodic metal band doesn’t really do Phoenix Lake enough justice for the sounds they truly embrace. What we hear on this mighty debut album is everything from hard rock, to symphonic metal with gear shifts into superior pop and gothic as mood enhancers. This isn’t just a good album for a debut, it’s a terrific set of songs that more established acts would kill to produce. The writing is rounded and mature with, in some softer moments, levels that reach masterful. Each instrument is given the chance to shine and does exactly that, and then some. The rhythm section is perfectly in synch while the guitar work simply rocks out. The vocals convey emotion so well, soaring when required, whispering ethereally as in the angel Seraphina herself, and raw with passion. The story arc of said fallen angel works admirably, yes this is a concept album that actually makes you want the story to continue. This is an album that deserves to make Phoenix Lake one of the new hottest bands for 2026.
