Smash Into Pieces

Self Release
Smash Into Pieces will debut their ninth studio album on Halloween adding a new chapter to their story that picks up from their 2024 release ‘Ghost Code’. The Swedish alt Rock quartet pride themselves in their cinematic story telling and even have their own super hero within the band (as well as drummer and DJ), Apoc, who is from the world of Arcadia. This album delves into a dystopian future where an AI-driven entity has taken control in a digital war and Apoc has come to ‘the real world’ to try and save humanity. One thing that is guaranteed from Smash Into Pieces is their deeply thought out lyricism and instrumentals, massive chorus’s, synths and a larger than life production. Fans will recognize eight previously released tracks, including hits like ‘Devil In My Head’, ‘Broken Halo’ and ‘Sky Full Of Stars’. However, the album also features seven unreleased songs. Vocalist Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye has one of the most distinct voices we have ever heard in this genre. His style going from high pitch to growl aids in whatever mood that song may take, be it more sensitive and melodic or aggressive. ‘Paradise’ with Elize Ryd is breathtaking and is one of three tracks featuring a guest artist. Ryd’s vocals are powerful and pair well with Sörbye, which is further lit up with a dazzling musical backdrop. We could easily praise each song for their killer hooks which somehow make them feel recognisable and unforgettable upon the first listen. Their previously unreleased tracks including ‘Villain’, ‘Rage’ and ‘First Time’ feat Swedish/Japanese star LiLiCo are equally as enticing as those we have come to know over the past year. The album can be enjoyed without knowing the lore, with many themes being relatable, extending beyond the fantasy. As with a lot of music, it can be interpreted differently by the listener. Armaheaven is immersive, exciting and admirably authentic.
