News: Nova Twins Partner with Amnesty International UK to Champion Human Rights on UK Tour

Nova Twins have announced a new partnership with Amnesty International UK that seeks to defend the right to protest on their upcoming UK tour. The collaboration forms part of Amnesty’s Change the Record initiative, a platform connecting artists with human rights causes to spark meaningful conversations through music and creativity.

The partnership comes amid mounting concern over the UK government’s crackdown on peaceful protest. Over the past few months, there have been more than  1,600 arrests under the Terrorism Act 2000 for actions as simple as holding placards, with peaceful demonstrators being criminalised and hauled from the streets by police. The arrest of peaceful protestors is a violation of the UK’s international obligations. This hasn’t happened in a vacuum – it has been years of crackdown on our right to protest.

Around the world, we are witnessing a freefall in human rights as authoritarian practices spread fear and division. Harmful narratives are fuelling violence, discrimination, and social tensions, with refugees, migrants, and racialised groups bearing the brunt. Promoting fear and division is an intentional tactic that allows the powerful to erode hard-earned freedoms without resistance.

Yet alongside this, a powerful movement is rising within the artist community, one that refuses to stay silent. Artists are increasingly using their platforms to speak truth, build solidarity, and inspire change.

Nova Twins are using their platform to shine a spotlight on the erosion of freedoms, especially this alarming crackdown on peaceful protest.

Nova Twins say:
“We’ve always believed music is about more than sound, it’s about standing up, speaking out, and being heard. On this tour, we’re proud to stand with Amnesty International to spotlight their brave work defending human rights around the world and protecting our right to protest, speak truth, and place love over hate.”

Amnesty International UK say:
“We are so grateful to Nova Twins for their support and commitment in joining Amnesty to ‘Change the Record’ on Human Rights.  The culture of the UK is shifting under us. With an increasing creep towards authoritarianism in laws and policies that stoke fear and division, we must push back and defend the human rights that keep us all free. Our strength lies in our diversity.  “This collaboration with Nova Twins is so important, giving fans the opportunity to come together and show their solidarity and support for human rights.  This work has never been more urgent.” – Gemma Gillie, Head of Media PR & Supporter Communications (Amnesty International UK)
