Review: Star Circus – From The Wreckage

Star Circus

From The Wreckage

Renaissance Records

Remember those heady days when rock was all about the big hair and even bigger excesses? When the likes of Motley Crüe rode onto album covers on Harley Davidson’s and Axl Rose took you to Paradise City! Well what Star Circus have done is capture the wonderful vibe of that era, the best bit, the music itself, and brought it up to date. ‘From The Wreckage’ is an absolute hum-dinger all killer feast featuring big hooks, stirring vocals and pounding rhythms. You get huge sing a long choruses that we all love along with some impressive harmonies. The whole record lets you escape and makes you feel so damn good. There’s some clever writing in their too, the kind of stuff that doesn’t interfere with all the headbanging fun, but that makes each song sound new and forward facing. Dave Winkler is a name you need to remember because his song writing skills have proven consistently truly dynamic. Nothing is over blown, it’s just bloody good classic influenced hard rock. With festival season fast approaching this is a must for your summer playlist.
