Youth Code
Yours, With Malice
Sumerian Records
Partners Sara Taylor and Ryan George return with new music after four years. Recently signing to a new label, Youth Code from Los Angeles have been together and releasing EBM and Industrial music for over a decade. Their latest EP ‘Yours, With Malice’ comprises five tracks that they have been brewing up together for some time and “self-reflection” with music and lyrics that has been described as “incredibly introspective and vitriolic”. Opening track ‘No Consequences’ pulls no punches and sets the tone for what’s to come. Taylor’s aggressive vocal style matched with the melodic synths and blasting beats make for quite the roller coaster of sounds. Lyrically very thoughtful and full of angst we particularly enjoyed ‘Make Sense’. It feels quite different from the other tracks it features interesting samples combined with synths. Taylor’s more melodic approach vocally sounds incredible on this song. Finishing with ‘I’m Sorry’ is a track that if you weren’t already on your feet or bopping along you sure will be now. They have managed to create something quite intense but also exciting. We can imagine a live performance of anything from this record will be pretty spectacular.
