We all love big anthemic songs don’t we? Those fist pumping, headbang inducing slabs of epicness that you know will sound like a million dollars live. This is the way Gypsy Pistoleros write their material. There’s no holding back here, it’s just big hooks, pounding rhythms and raw enthusiasm. And while boundaries might not be getting threatened this is still a modern sounding album. The writing has a fresh edge to it and the production is well balanced. The vocal delivery reminds you of early era Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden in places and there is also more than a nod towards the NWOBHM scene generally. There are some nice changes of pace and mood too, so while ‘Church Of The Pistoleros’ is solidly consistent it also has a pleasing depth to it.  It’s a record you can play all the way through quite happily or choose a mood song from. If you just want to rock your socks off to something new then this is for you.
