Review: Conflict – This Much Remains

Conflict

This Much remains

Cadiz Music

Never ones to beat around the bush both lyrically and musically Conflict are back with their first album in 20 years, and it’s a bit of a belter. Clearly the mantra here is don’t fix what isn’t broke. You get familiar in ya face punk rock with the emphasis on rhythms that you can jump around to and words that square up to societal failings. What you also get though is a moving on as to what those failings, and fears, are now, This is above all else a record that is relevant not retro. There’s a progressive feel to the writing too with some slick intros and poignant spoken word breaks. The tempo ebbs and flows wonderfully well. The addition of Fi Friel as an extra vocalist is a smart move too giving yet more depth to a set of songs that are both classic and classy. Conflict might be a part of an older guard but here they have produced something that sounds fresh that will appeal to fans of any age from a wide music background.
