Too Pure To Cure

Suite484Music

The New York City five piece, known for their ‘Gothic Art Rock’ stylings are pushing the boundaries and leaning into new and fresh sounds for their latest release ‘Too Pure To Cure’. Described as an ‘artistic manifesto of self-acceptance’, themes explored include ‘love, lust, hope, fear and digital-age existentialism’. ‘The Wake’ sounds like you have taken a step back into the glittering 80s, it’s a very pop sounding track with twinkling spine tingling synths. Christian Dryden’s vocals are mesmerising and powerful.  ‘You Know Better’ takes a totally different form with a Glammy Punk Rock edge. Here Dryden’s vox is more punchy and the beats are begging for you to get on the dance floor. Title track ‘Too Pure To Cure’ is a melodic with Indy Alt Rock vibes. It has sliding emotive guitar notes paired perfectly with Dryden’s rousing voice. The record finishes with ‘Play The Sparrow’ another retro feeling track which suits the band sound perfectly. It has dreamy backing tracks and soaring vocals. ‘Too Pure To Cure’ is an ambitious album in sound with carefully thought out instrumental placements, creating something unique and larger than life. It is lyrically poetic, romantic and thoughtful covering themes which are relatable and thought provoking.
