LA Witch
Doggod
Suicide Squeeze Records
The modern day Goth movement is evolving faster than some might think. With it comes a need for music more reflective of current views of the subjects those dark ones just love, life, love and death. LA Witch are an extension of what was formed by artists like The Cure, The Cult and Joy Division. What this Californian three piece do so successfully (aside from staying in the shade) is bring their own identity to the table. Doggod is a medley of dreamy rhythms, psychedelic moods and whispered lyrics. It is a record you can put on and immerse yourself in like a favourite duvet. Itβs comforting, and highly spiritual. This is in a way the 60s reincarnate, it asks many of the same questions and runs along similar themes, but it has a few decades worth of answers too. The vocals at times could be Grace Slick in her more lucid moments, but with greater understanding of the sphere we call home. βDoggodβ is a trippy marvel, Slick herself would have loved it weβre sure.
